Life sentences in the Pollachi sexual assault case

All nine accused in the Pollachi case were found guilty by a Mahila court in Coimbatore and given life imprisonment.

The Pollachi ring of sexual assault and extortion was exposed in 2019, and the CBI took over the investigation. Its trial ended six years later. The Coimbatore Mahila Court on 13 May 2025 convicted every one of the nine accused and handed each a life sentence. It further directed the Tamil Nadu government to pay eight survivors compensation adding up to Rs 85 lakh.
