Stalin launched Rs. 1,000 a month for boys from government schools who go on to higher education, modelled on Pudhumai Penn.

On 9 August 2024 Chief Minister M. K. Stalin launched the Tamil Pudhalvan scheme at a government college in Coimbatore. Boys who studied from Class 6 to 12 in government or Tamil-medium schools receive Rs. 1,000 a month while pursuing higher education in Tamil Nadu. The state set aside Rs. 360 crore for the year, and about 3.28 lakh students were expected to benefit. It mirrors the Pudhumai Penn scheme for girls launched in 2022.
