Vallalar starts the Samarasa Vedha Sanmarga Sangam
· Vadalur

Vallalar, or Ramalinga Swamigal, formed a fellowship of devotees against caste distinctions, which was later renamed the Samarasa Suddha Sanmarga Sathya Sangam.
After leaving Chennai in 1858, Ramalinga Swamigal spent nine years living at Karunguzhi, close to Vadalur. He rejected the caste system and taught Jeevakarunyam, a compassion that extends to every living being. His followers were organised in 1865 into a guild he named the Samarasa Vedha Sanmarga Sangam. Its name was changed in 1872 to the Samarasa Suddha Sanmarga Sathya Sangam, and in that same year he opened the Sathya Gnana Sabhai at Vadalur.
