Cooperative crop loans taken from May 2025 to February 2026 were waived by the Vijay government, a relief that eventually reached 14.43 lakh farmers.

C. Joseph Vijay took office as Chief Minister on 10 May 2026 and shortly afterwards announced that crop loans drawn from cooperative banks between 1 May 2025 and 28 February 2026 would be written off. State figures show that the ceiling for a full waiver was later lifted to Rs. 75,000, with 14.43 lakh farmers benefiting. Other steps in the government's first 100 days included a dearness allowance increase for employees and orders to renovate Amma canteens.
