The Madras Flying Club came into existence and the Madras aerodrome, ancestor of Chennai airport, was commissioned.

Talks started by the aviator G. Vlasto resulted in the creation of the Madras Flying Club in March 1930. In July 1930 the club's first training flight lifted off from the airstrip. Commissioned in the same year, the Madras aerodrome ranked among India's earliest airports. Chennai International Airport grew from it.
