Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation founded

The state set up the Civil Supplies Corporation to procure and distribute food grains and essential commodities.

The Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation was founded in 1972 under the government of M. Karunanidhi. It was created to procure, store and distribute food grains and other essential commodities. The corporation became the main supplier for the state's public distribution system of ration shops. It works under the state's department of co-operation, food and consumer protection.
