Titan Watches founded as Tata-TIDCO joint venture with plant at Hosur

Titan Watches Limited was incorporated in Chennai as a joint venture of the Tata Group and TIDCO, with a quartz watch plant at Hosur.

Titan Watches Limited was incorporated on 26 July 1984 in Chennai as a joint venture between the Tata Group and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO). A plant to manufacture quartz analogue watches was set up in the SIPCOT industrial area at Hosur. The company, later renamed Titan Company, diversified into jewellery with Tanishq in 1994 and keeps its registered office in Hosur.
