Kalaignarin Varumun Kappom health camps relaunched

Stalin revived the Varumun Kappom preventive health camps of Karunanidhi's time, with 1,250 camps a year across the state.
Varumun Kappom ('prevention before it comes') was a programme of preventive health check-up camps run by M. Karunanidhi's governments. On 29 September 2021 Chief Minister M. K. Stalin relaunched it as 'Kalaignarin Varumun Kappom' at Vazhapadi in Salem district. The revived scheme provides for 1,250 medical camps a year with specialists in areas such as ENT, maternity, eye care, cardiology and Siddha. Patients identified in the camps are linked to the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam doorstep care scheme.
