2G spectrum case arrests

Former Telecom Minister A. Raja and later Kanimozhi were arrested in the 2G spectrum case; a special court acquitted all accused in 2017.
The 2G spectrum case concerned the allocation of telecom licences in 2008, which the Comptroller and Auditor General said caused a large presumptive loss to the exchequer. A. Raja of the DMK, who had been Telecom Minister, was arrested by the CBI in February 2011, and Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi was arrested in May 2011. The case damaged the DMK ahead of the 2011 Assembly election. In December 2017 a special CBI court in Delhi acquitted all the accused, and the CBI appealed.
