Palani Murugan temple's panchamirtham offering was the first temple prasadam in Tamil Nadu to receive a GI tag.

Prepared from hill bananas, jaggery, ghee, honey and other ingredients, Palani panchamirtham is a sweet offering of the Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple in Palani. It gained geographical indication status in the 2019-20 registration year. No temple prasadam had been granted that recognition before. Because the hill banana in it contains little moisture, the offering stays fresh without being refrigerated.
