Udhayanidhi Stalin becomes Deputy Chief Minister
· Chennai

Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of M. K. Stalin, was elevated as Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Udhayanidhi Stalin, a film actor and producer who entered the Assembly from Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni in 2021 and became a minister in 2022, was made Deputy Chief Minister in September 2024. The appointment was part of a cabinet reshuffle in which V. Senthil Balaji also returned as a minister. Opposition parties criticised the move as dynastic politics. After the DMK lost the 2026 election, Udhayanidhi became Leader of the Opposition.
