By passing the 2500 rating mark, Chennai's Vaishali qualified as India's third woman grandmaster, alongside her brother Praggnanandhaa.

Vaishali Rameshbabu was born in Chennai in 2001 and earned the Woman Grandmaster title in 2018. Playing at the El Llobregat Open in Spain in December 2023, she went past the 2500 Elo threshold and so met every condition for the grandmaster title. She was the third Indian woman, and the 84th Indian overall, to reach it. Together with her younger brother R. Praggnanandhaa she made up the first sister and brother pair of grandmasters. She was also the winner of the FIDE Women's Grand Swiss in both 2023 and 2025.
