Chennai Super Kings win the IPL on return from suspension

· Mumbai

In their first season back after a two-year suspension, Chennai Super Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the IPL final.

Chennai Super Kings were suspended from the Indian Premier League from 2015 to 2017 because of their owners' involvement in the 2013 spot-fixing and betting case. The franchise rejoined the league for the 2018 season under captain M. S. Dhoni. In the final in Mumbai on 27 May 2018, they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets, with Shane Watson scoring 117 not out. It was their third IPL title, and the team won further titles in 2021 and 2023.
