Tamil Thalaivas join the Pro Kabaddi League

· Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai

When the Pro Kabaddi League grew to twelve teams for its fifth season, Tamil Nadu gained a franchise of its own.

Four new teams were announced by the Pro Kabaddi League in March 2017 ahead of its fifth season, and one of them was to be based in Tamil Nadu. Named Tamil Thalaivas, the Chennai franchise picked up Ajay Thakur, India's captain at the time, in the 2017 auction. Its home games are played at Chennai's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
