Execution of Oomaithurai

· Panchalankurichi

Oomaithurai, brother of Kattabomman, was captured and hanged at Panchalankurichi with Sevathaiah, ending the Second Polygar War.

Oomaithurai had led the defence of Panchalankurichi and later fought alongside the Maruthu brothers at Kalayar Kovil. After the Company captured Kalayar Kovil in October 1801, he and Sevathaiah were taken prisoner. They were hanged at Panchalankurichi on 16 November 1801. His death marked the end of organised palayakkarar resistance in the Tirunelveli region.
