Pakistan win a close Test against India at Chepauk
Pakistan beat India by 12 runs at Chepauk in the first Test of their first tour of India in 12 years, despite Sachin Tendulkar's 136.
Pakistan toured India in 1999 for the first time in 12 years, amid threats by militant groups. After Shiv Sena activists dug up the pitch at the scheduled first Test venue in New Delhi, the match was moved to the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, in Chennai, and played from 28 to 31 January 1999. Pakistan won by 12 runs, with Shahid Afridi scoring 141 and Saqlain Mushtaq taking ten wickets in the match. Sachin Tendulkar scored 136 in India's chase and was named player of the match.
