India's first Test cricket victory at Chepauk

At Chepauk in Madras, India defeated England by an innings and 8 runs, winning a Test for the first time in its 25th match.
England's 1951-52 tour of India ended with the fifth Test at the Madras Cricket Club Ground, Chepauk, played between 6 and 10 February 1952. Vinoo Mankad claimed a large portion of the wickets as India triumphed by an innings and 8 runs. The result was India's first ever Test win, coming after 25 Tests spread over 20 years, and it levelled the series at 1-1. On 7 February the game was halted when news came of the death of King George VI.
