Built in Egmore for the Scots of Madras, St. Andrew's Church was consecrated in 1821.

St. Andrew's Church was raised for the Scottish Presbyterians living in Madras. Work started on 6 April 1818, and consecration followed in 1821. Two officers of the Madras Engineers, Major Thomas de Havilland and Colonel James Caldwell, designed and built it, taking St Martin-in-the-Fields in London as their model. Over its circular nave rises a low masonry dome, painted deep blue and studded with golden stars. Still a Presbyterian place of worship, it is popularly called the Kirk.
