Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO) formed

· Chennai

TESO was formed in Tamil Nadu to mobilise support for Sri Lankan Tamils, with M. Karunanidhi among its leaders.

The Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation was founded in 1985 by DMK leader M. Karunanidhi together with other Tamil Nadu leaders. It aimed to build political support in India for the Sri Lankan Tamil cause during the escalating civil war. TESO organised conferences, rallies and campaigns in Tamil Nadu. It became dormant later and was revived by the DMK in 2012.
