Srirangam temple Rajagopuram completed

The 73-metre main gateway tower of the Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam was completed after centuries.
The base of the Rajagopuram of the Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam had been built around 1500 CE, but the tower remained incomplete for over 400 years. The 44th Jiyar of the Ahobila Matha collected donations to finish it, and the thirteen-tiered tower was completed in 1987. At about 73 metres it is among the tallest temple towers in Asia. The temple is a leading Sri Vaishnava centre.
