Bangalore Nagarathnamma built a temple over the samadhi of the composer Thyagaraja at Thiruvaiyaru, the site of the annual Aradhana festival.

Bangalore Nagarathnamma, a singer and patron from a devadasi family, learned that the samadhi of the Carnatic composer Thyagaraja at Thiruvaiyaru was in poor condition. Using her own resources she built a temple over the samadhi and arranged for an idol of Thyagaraja and daily worship; according to Wikipedia it was consecrated in 1921. The site hosts the annual Thyagaraja Aradhana music festival. She later worked to ensure that women artists could perform at the festival.
