Sivaganga settled on Gowri Vallaba Thevar
After the Maruthu brothers were executed, Sivaganga was settled in 1803 as a permanent estate on Gowri Vallaba Thevar.
Following the Second Polygar War and the execution of the Maruthu brothers in 1801, the East India Company reorganised Sivaganga. In 1803 the estate was permanently settled under a deed of Istimrar on Padamathur Gowri Vallaba Udaya Thevar. This placed Sivaganga within the Company's new zamindari arrangements under the Permanent Settlement. The estate stayed with his line through the 19th century before later passing to another branch of the family.
