Completed in 1900 beside Madras Central, Moore Market was an Indo-Saracenic building meant to accommodate the hawkers of Broadway.

Moore Market was put up to give the hawkers of Broadway in Madras a home. R. E. Ellis designed it in the Indo-Saracenic style, A. Subramania Aiyar was the builder, and the work was finished in 1900. Its shops surrounded a central square, and the market became famous for used books and second-hand goods. Fire destroyed the building on 30 May 1985, after which the land went to the suburban terminal of Chennai Central.
